Every Cancer Journey Is Challenging

We are ready to be partners on that journey, and we can make a difference!

“Receiving Healing Touch has been an experience of deep care that is hard to describe in words. In each session I settle into states of timeless peace and rest. I feel so grateful for this gentle service that has transformed my wellbeing.”

Reflections of a Year Gone By

Looking at the calendar, it is hard to believe we are on the door step of 2022. Where did the year go? Throughout 2021 we were shuttered, then things opened up only to be shuttered again. Through it all, we continued to work with our Healing Partners to help them find their way to a new normal

Our sessions were offered remotely, which was an adjustment for our Partners. They did, however, gain a new respect for Healing Touch and learned there are no space or time constraints when it comes to energy work. Our partners benefited as deeply as if they were in the same room with their providers. Some even connected more deeply to themselves and their role in their own self-healing.

"I did sessions at home by phone, and in-person in both Carmel Valley, and at Pacific Cancer Care. All worked very well for me. All were comfortable, calming and peaceful. I always felt good or better after my sessions! "

Finally, in October, after a year-and-a-half of waiting, Pacific Cancer Care allowed us to return to our treatment room located in their building. We began in-person sessions again. That personal  connection had been missed by both the Providers and their Healing Partners.

We are grateful that we were able to continue our work during such challenging times, and get excited as more and more restrictions are eased. In the end — whether sessions are in person or remote — we are honored to do this work.

Making New Alliances

Providers Margot Baker (background) and Emma Rodriguez offer mini Healing Touch sessions to Mobile Boutique participants.

Healing Partners of the Central Coast (HPCC) joined with Bay Area Cancer Connections and Cancer Patients Alliance to participate in a Mobile Boutique pop-up held at CSVS Sanborn Clinic in Salinas. The Mobile Boutique offered cancer assistance and hope, with free supplies, problem solving and cancer information. HPCC was on hand with Providers to introduce Healing Touch to this underserved community and offered mini-sessions to attendees. We hope to continue this alliance and participate in more Mobile Boutiques in the future.

Collaboration in Progress

Healing Partners of the Central Coast has been working with Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (SVMH) on plans to integrate Healing Touch into the hospital community. Looking toward 2022, we hope to bring the Healing Partners Program to the SVMH cancer patients. We also hope to develop a program that provides Healing Touch support and training for SVMH staff. Stay tuned to see how our collaborative efforts progress.

There is no better time to give...

So many families have been touched in some way by cancer. It can be either a family member, a friend or oneself who received the diagnosis. Whichever the case... Every cancer journey is challenging.

At HPCC, it is our mission to support diagnosed cancer patients with free Healing Touch sessions to help them through their journey. We make a difference by offering them one hour a week to focus on self — a respite from the rigors of treatments. Healing Touch provides nurturing care that can reduce side effects, helps them reconnect in meaningful ways with a body that has betrayed them, and provides a safe environment in which  they can be seen, heard, touched and replenished.

The comments we get from our partners are a continuous reminder of what a difference these sessions make. We want to continue to collaborate with this community, and expand awareness of our program, but we need your help.

There is no better time to donate to HPCC than through the MC Gives! 2021 Fundraising Campaign. Each donation made earns additional funding from Community Foundation for Monterey County and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation.
